In meditation, people focus their consciousness on breathing.
Breathing, is a process that normally takes place unconsciously.
Just as breathable air, oxygen or an open living space is not perceived by many as a matter of course.
The deflatable sculptures consciously and unconsciously interact with the viewer’s breathing.
The contents are emotionally absorbed in order to be further processed and reflected upon in the subconscious.

Deflatable: an object is deprived of air in order to allow it to take a kind of
to allow it to ‘breathe’. This causes the objects inside it to move, making the sculpture appear artificially ‘animated’.
A cycle of tension (vacuuming) and relaxation (inflow of air) creates an artificial breath that ‘imitates’ the living.
This ´ artificial life’ is presented to the gaze of the viewer and at the same time directing their focus inwards.

A deflatable is a kinetic sculpture consisting of readymades or 3D prints of scanned objects.

The lifelike sculpture plays with the duality of tension and relaxation. It invites the viewer to
interact with it on several levels, gently guiding them towards subtle forms and individual paths of introspection.
This stimulates the consciousness to shape and change one’s own perspective on inner and outer processes.
