THOMAS J. JELINEK
born in Stockholm,
is a transdisciplinary working conceptual artist, director, dramaturge and curator.
He realised art- and media-performances, postdramatic theatre, video-works, space and media installations and light-rooms. T.J. Jelinek is developing and working on progressive, immersive forms of media performance and theatre and directed various performance, opera and theatre projects and specifically developed contemporary forms of media- and discourse theatre and performance, as action theatre for industrial sites and urban areas in Europe.
He also worked for television and urban architectural projects, realising exhibitions, performance projects and stage works in the context of ARS ELECTRONICA / Linz, Berlin KH. Tacheles and HAU, Basel, Zentralwerk Dresden, V2 Rotterdam, DeFabriek Eindhoven, Künstlerhaus Vienna, Biennale de Lyon, Stockholm, Shanghai, Seoul, Vienna MTTW, Museumquartier, European Art Week Zagreb etc.
With the focus on the basic mechanisms of perception and the construction of reality he is developing interactive installations, as well as transdisciplinary laboratories in between art and science. Also working on the development of laboratories for discourses, contextual performance processes, media-art- and media communication-projects and situative Space-installations.
As a curator he realised a number of transdisciplinary art ventures, directed international festivals, like TRANSART Croatia, and collaborative art-spaces like the TEST.TUBE.LAB series. He is artistic director of NOMAD.theatre and co-founder, dramaturge and scenographer of Liquid Loft and founder of several art-groups and art-spaces, like MESSING-network or LABfactory.
