
Jennifer Helia DeFelice
Jennifer DeFelice is an artist, musician, and educator focused on performative practice, interpretation, and improvisation. Her approach ranges from performances and installations to collaborative projects and workshops. She has worked as a graphic designer, translator, and interpreter.
Currently, she concentrates on programming and education in the fields of art and technology. She is a co-founder Vasulka Kitchen Brno, which commemorates and develops the artistic and philosophical legacy of Woody and Steina Vasulka.
Since 1993, she has served as an assistant at the Faculty of Fine Arts at VUT Brno in the Video-Performance- Multimedia Atelier (later the Performance Atelier). She is currently part of the Department of Creative Activities and External Relations and works as an assistant in the Visiting Artist Atelier. At the Department of Interactive Media Theory at Masaryk University, she teaches a course on Documents of Presence and Experience. In 2017, she was a visiting artist at the Department of Social Design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
Jennifer teaches a course called Ideas Generation: Conceptual Tendencies, aimed at helping young artists navigate and define the conceptual framework of their artistic practice. She also conducts a seminar on Understanding Historical, Cultural, Socio-Political, and Curatorial Influences on Artistic Creation, focusing on identifying the artist‘s role as a tool for creative influence and change, and developing the ability to address complex socio-political issues through cultural events and activities.
