CARE & ACTION by ‘forum n‘
arts of change – change of arts is a mentoring program initiated by the association “forum n”.
Since 2020,  the project aims at fostering a deeper understanding of the arts’ role within sustainability movements and changemaking.

Co-created by art students and experts from within and beyond academia, the interdisciplinary public symposium addresses the relationship between care and creativity in the context of social sustainability.
In times of global conflicts, climate crises and socio-ecological ruptures caused by war, many people struggle emotionally, resulting in isolation practices, societal separation and exclusion of vulnerable groups.
This is where creative methods provide purposeful tools to collectively face change, create cohesive communities and help process strong emotions such as fear, numbness and panic.
The symposium aims to create a space for exchange and sharing.

CODES of CHANGE by Thomas J. Jelinek [AT/SE]

The computer is a logical development of our perception – with code as its building block. Yet, instead of partnership, AI generates crises in a distorted value model of late capitalism. Thomas J. Jelinek will explore model-based thinking and alternative methodologies to rewrite our coding.

(De)Coding otherwise – Arts and small AI by Christoph Hubatschke [AT]

Hegemonic AI systems control the decoding and encoding of information and communication, shaping our interactions, societies, and politics. The lecture will explore how we can indeed do AI differently and (de)code the world otherwise through arts-based approaches. (IT:U Austria)

Peradam by Skade Henriksen [NO]

We encounter the starting point of the Peradam artistic research project: a graphite mine on Senja / Sážžá in Troms county, Northern Norway. It began in 2017 with a material interest in graphite – a material connected with drawing, employment for the local community, and the ongoing green transition. (Art Academy, University of Bergen)

Organic Circuits – exhibition project by Jennifer Helia DeFelice [CZ/US]

Organic Circuits (LÁ Art Museum of South Iceland, 2024) brought together artists working between art and science to unsettle anthropocentric perception and propose an ethics of reciprocity grounded in cyclical, more-than-human ecologies. This presentation examines this project’s curatorial framework and the transdisciplinary collaborations.
