Iwona Nowacka & Janek Turkowski
Janek Turkowski and Iwona Nowacka are artists based in Poland who have worked
together since 2013. They are theatre makers working on long-term projects resulting
in video-storytelling performances. During the live acts on stage they use archive
recordings as well as footage recorded previously. One of the integral parts of all their
performances is a reflection about the creative process itself. Their performances are
distinguished by investigative methods, humour and self-irony. They focus on detail, as
well as repetition and re-enactment of crucial events for the location and its
community. Previous works: it’s happening in norwich (2016, Norfolk & Norwich
Festival, UK), Smalfilm (2018, Grand Theatre Groningen & Noorderzon Festival, NL),
Klosterhof (2018, Dublin Theatre festival, Ireland), Carte Blanche (2018, Centre

Landestheater Marburg). They work and present their performances internationally,
among others at Akademie der Künste, Berlin, Noorderzon Groningen, Rohm Theatre in
Kioto, Under the Radar in New York, Wiener Festwochen and many others.
