William Gibson, the speculative fiction writer and essayist [„neuromancer“ / „cyberpunk“] wrote in summer 2026 on X (former Twitter) – as Annie @AnniaForTruth:
„Wake the f^ck up folks before it´s too late. AI data centers are expanding across the U.S. at rapid rates and depleting our water sources using billions of gallons of a precious resource. Guess what…if you have no water, you have no life.”
In Europe, too, huge data centres are being built at a rapid pace, primarily by US tech companies.
Global warming is accelerating radical climate change, which – with the disappearance of glaciers and the drying up of rivers – is causing water resources to dwindle exponentially, whilst the draining of peatlands not only releases the CO₂ sequestered within them but also contributes further to water evaporation, and the ongoing construction of logistics centres is increasingly sealing off land, thereby further exacerbating the already drastic situation.
These are just a few examples of the converging chain of problems that have arisen from a fatal lack of understanding of the interconnections.
If this trend continues, we will soon have squandered the very basis of our existence and the most important building block of our biological bodies.

Performance intervention in public space
Durational performance
With the performance AIKO is tracing the FLUVIALE route, spanning over 4,000 kilometres, in fragments at the spots of the project partners, as well as at the locations and venues where the FLUVIALE projects are taking place throughout the time span of the festival.
The performative interventions take place in conjunction with FLUVIALE’s dissemination and travel schedule, coinciding with the festival’s first appearance at each location along the line. MISU thus also follows this oscillating movement and, accordingly, develops not linearly from one end to the other, but from the centre of the line outwards in ever-increasing intervals towards the two endpoints of the FLUVIALE crystallisation line.
Water – in Japanese: misu – is an essential element for life, without water we could not exist. But water is heavily abused by human being by contamination and pollution. Water is the habitat of countless numbers of species. Lavishly wasted water is elsewhere missed in agony – filled in questionable bottles, sold as expensive potable water as a lifestyle pro- duct though it should be for free like air – the basic substances for all living. Consequently water is the main protagonist of this performance.
The ritual is questioned and newly invented – but appears like an old traditional Japanese ritual. Water will be honored and put in positive vibration and given to passengers and the public in form of tiny drops. The concentration and the slowlyness of the performer offers for the audience the possibilty to activate his own emotional and intuitiv associations.
